UMAPs Fundraising Pledges

Help us take the legal challenge forward

UMAPs has reached a crucial stage in its legal challenge on behalf of Physician Associates and Anaesthesia Associates across the UK. On 8 September 2026, we will ask the High Court for permission to proceed with our Judicial Review of national decisions that are already affecting Associate careers, livelihoods and their place in the NHS workforce.

Members’ support has funded months of evidence gathering, legal research and specialist preparation, bringing this challenge to the High Court. We are now aiming to raise £320,000 through the UMAPs Pledge, a focused 12-week fundraising campaign.

The funds are intended to meet the costs of the oral renewal hearing and, if permission is granted, help us pursue the substantive Judicial Review. Our target is based on the costs currently anticipated. Court proceedings carry uncertainty, and appeals or additional proceedings could create further costs.

The level of support we receive during these 12 weeks will determine the resources available to take the challenge forward. Whether you are an Associate or someone who wants to stand alongside them, please choose the appropriate Pledge below.

Make your Member Pledge

UMAPs members have made this legal challenge possible. Your contributions over the past eight months have helped meet our monthly legal fees and funded the work required to reach the High Court.

The levy has now ended. The Member Pledge provides a voluntary, fixed-term way to support the next stage.

If you are able, please make the full £150 Pledge, either as one payment or through three monthly payments of £50. Every instalment plan ends automatically. You can also pledge £100, £50 or another amount if that is more manageable.

A core group has carried an extraordinary share of the work and its costs. Broad participation from the wider membership is now essential.

Friends & Family Pledge

Physician Associates and Anaesthesia Associates have worked alongside doctors and other healthcare professionals in the NHS for more than 20 years. Established responsibilities are now being removed, employment opportunities are disappearing and experienced clinicians are facing redundancy from a small profession with limited alternatives.

This also matters for patients. The NHS depends on multidisciplinary teams to meet the demand for care. Removing trained clinicians does not create more doctors, appointments or NHS capacity. UMAPs believes every healthcare professional, including doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and Associates, deserves fairness, respect and proper accountability.

Please stand alongside your friend, family member or colleague by giving £150, £100, £50 or an amount you can manage.
