Dear Associate,

UMAPs is recruiting new union representatives, and we’re particularly looking for members working in Primary Care, Secondary Care and Anaesthesia Associates roles to help strengthen representation across our workplace.

A union exists to support and represent staff at work. We work collectively to improve pay, conditions, workload, wellbeing, job security, and fairness in the workplace. Union representatives are a key part of that work, helping raise concerns, supporting colleagues, and ensuring staff voices are heard in discussions with management.

You do not need previous union experience to become a rep. Training, guidance, and support will all be provided.

Becoming a union rep is an opportunity to:

Support colleagues in your area
Help improve workplace conditions
Raise issues affecting staff
Build confidence and skills in communication and representation
Strengthen collective staff voice and solidarity

We are especially keen to hear from SC/PC PAs/ AAs so that our representation better reflects the staff groups we represent.

If you’d like to find out more or express an interest, please contact info@umaps.org.uk. An informal conversation is absolutely welcome if you’re curious but unsure.

Under the expert guidance of our legal team, and the dedicated, strategic leadership of our own executive committee, things are moving very quickly behind the scenes here at UMAPs. We’re excited to share our future updates and victories with you – so watch this space, because we are just getting started!
